Blast Engineering
As GEKO Engineering we have considerable experience in the evaluation of blast scenarios ranging from the measurement of pressure and time data to calculating the blast loads. Accurate matching of analytical techniques with appropriate data to develop realistic loading scenarios is one of the most important components of blast engineering. In these calculations, we use a variety of calculation methods including software applications based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
The design process involves the evaluation of the performance of the structural elements as well as the evaluation of the overall structure and basic systems with a wide range of analysis methods ranging from simplified hand calculations to nonlinear finite element analysis programs such as ABAQUS, ANSYS and LS-DYNA.
Existing buildings in most industrial facilities have been found to have insufficient plast resistance. In many cases, it is not possible to design and build a new blast-proof construction.
